PRODUCTION OF SPONGE IRON

The production of sponge iron during 2002-03 was 6.908 million tonnes. During the year2003-04 it is expected to be 7.5 million tonnes. There was no exports during 2002-03 and no export target has been set for 2003-04. Projected demand for 2003-04 is about 7.4 million tonnes.
