CLOSURE OF INDUSTRIAL UNITS IN ORISSA
DUE TO CYCLONE
Government of Orissa
have informed that 17 industrial units have been closed in Orissa
after the Super Cyclone of 1999.
1060 workers
have been affected as result of the closure.
No unit has been
closed due to labour unrest.
Since the reasons
of such closure were mostly due to financial cirisis, non-renewal
of franchise and un-favourable market condition etc. the closed
units have not been revived.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Labour and Parliamentary
affairs Shri Santosh Gangwar in the Lok Sabha today.
