RAILWAY RECRUITMENT BOARD EXAMINATIONS AT PORT BLAIR


The Ministry of Railways has decided that hereafter Railway Recruitment Board, Kolkata and Chennai will conduct examinations for recruitment of various group ‘C’ and ‘D’ jobs in Indian Railways at Port Blair in Andaman and Nicobar Islands as well. Accordingly, Kolkata and Chennai branches of Railway Recruitment Board have been directed to set up their examination centers in this Union Territory.

However, the examination centres at Port Blair will be restricted to candidates who are domicile of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Others will not be permitted to appear at such examinations.

This year, 20,000 gangmen are to be recruited by Railway Recruitment Boards, the process for which has already commenced. This follows announcement to this effect by the Railway Minister Shri Nitish Kumar in the Railway Budget 2003-2004 speech in the Lok Sabha on February 26, 2003.

There are 23 Railway Recruitment Board spread all over the country to conduct examinations for recruitment to various jobs in Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ in Indian Railways.
