SAIL GETS RECORD RS. 200 CRORE
BENEFIT THROUGH R&D
Management of Research
& Development activities in the Steel Authority of India Ltd.
(SAIL) witnessed a significant reorientation in the backdrop of
globalisation and liberalisation. SAIL's Research and Development
Centre for Iron & Steel (RDCIS), Ranchi has accelerated its
research work to coup up with the current as well as future technological
requirements.
The contribution
of the RDCIS has helped SAIL to get a record Rs. 200 crore certified
annual benefit during the year 2002-03. The customer satisfaction
index level has been 3.67 on a scale of 4 and SAIL has achieved
all time high benefit-to-cost ratio of 7.73 during the year.
Over the years,
RDCIS has earned the credential of being an R&D centre of
international repute in the field of ferrous metallurgy. During
the last three years it has received the NMD Award, Jindal Award
and Young Metallurgist Award.
