ENQUIRY INTO GOKUL EXPRESS DERAILMENT
INCONCLUSIVE
The Commissioner
of Railway Safety, North Eastern Circle, Shri Bhupender Singh,
in a statutory enquiry into the derailment of 5316 Down Gokul
Express, an eleven-coach vacuum braked train between Raya and
Sonai Railway stations, falling in district Mathura of Uttar Pradesh,
metre gauge single line section, non-electrified, Q route of Izzatnagar
Division of North Eastern Railway at 18.06 Hours on June 13, 2003,
has expressed his inability in his provisional findings to come
to any conclusion.
The preliminary
inquiry remains inconclusive till such time the Driver and the
Diesel Assistant recover to give their evidence, capsized and
derailed locomotive and three affected coaches are brought to
their respective workshops for detailed check and the 3.1 degree
curve on which the derailment took place is repaired to the speed
potential of the maximum sanctioned speed in order to conduct
certain trials.
As a result of
the accident, no train passenger was killed, ten passengers were
injured out of which seven were grievously injured and three received
simple injury.
