NMFDC AND KVIC TO HAVE LINKAGES FOR
SKILL UPGRADATION OF ARTISANS
National Minorities
Development & Finance Corporation (NMFDC) has initiated linkages
with Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) for skill
upgradation of artisans and marketing of their products. To start
with three districts have been identified where KVIC will on pilot
project basis conduct survey and prepare action plan for cluster
financing to the artisans by National Minorities Development and
Finance corporation. This would include training, marketing and
other logistic supports of KVIC to the artisans. These districts
are Gurgaon in Haryana, Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Sarganer
in Rajasthan. The programme will be extended further to other
districts in various States on the basis of the success of the
action plan in the three districts.
The National Backward
Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) has also
initiated action to have institutional linkages with KVIC in the
areas of training to the beneficiaries. Other areas of interlinking
their schemes of Corporation and KVIC are being explored for further
action.
The initiative has
been taken following recommendation made during the last meeting
of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to the Ministry
of Social Justice and Empowerment held in May this year.
