FUNDS RELEASED TO UTTAR PRADESH FOR WASTELANDS DEVELOPMENT
Ministry of Rural
Development has released an amount of Rs. 284.11 lakh for wasteland
development to three districts of Uttar Pradesh during 2003-2004.
The funds have been released under Integrated Wastelands Development
Programme.
Lucknow district
gets Rs.87.83 lakh, Pratapgarh - Rs.96.68 lakh and Varanasi district
gets 99.60 lakh for wasteland development.
IWDP envisages the
development of non-forests wastelands in the country. The basic
objective of the Programme is aimed at an integrated development
of wastelands/degraded lands based on village/micro watershed
plans. The funding of the projects are shared between the Central
and State Governments in the ratio of Rs. 5500 per ha. and Rs.500
per ha., respectively.
