ADVANI VISITS THAILAND AND SINGAPORE


The Deputy Prime Minister, Shri L.K. Advani leaves New Delhi this afternoon on a five-day official visit to Thailand and Singapore. He is heading a Six Member Delegation which includes the Union Home Secretary and senior officials. During his stay in Thailand Shri Advani is likely to discuss on important issues concerning the region particularly on bi-lateral matters. Matters like Mutual Assistance Treaty and Extradition of Criminals may also come up for discussion. However, the broad spectrum of discussion during the tour will focus on the security scenario. Meeting with dignitaries will include calling on the Thai Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Justice and Minister for Interior. The Home Minister will also address a Press Conference and will have lunch with Indian community on Saturday.

In Singapore, the Home Minister of that country will call on the Deputy Prime Minister. A Public Reception will be hosted for Shri Advani on Monday by the Indian High Commissioner where the Indian community will participate. It will be at Island Ballroom and Shri Advani will also call on the President of Singapore.

The Visit to Thailand and Singapore of the Deputy Prime Minister comes close on the heels of his recent visit to France, Qatar and Turkey.
