The
Minister of Information and Broadcasting Smt. Sushma Swaraj said
that Government would take all possible steps for the growth of
Indian photographic trade and promotion of photography as an art
form. While inaugurating the Photofair-2003 here today, the Minister
called upon the All India Photographic Trade Association to submit
the list of photographic equipment, which they feel, may be considered
for duty-relaxation, to her ministry so that it can be taken up
for discussion during her forthcoming pre-budget meeting with
the Finance Ministry. Photography is an art which speaks thousands
words and leave long lasting impression. Even pictorial biography
is more valuable and interesting than the biographies being written
in other languages, she said. The Minister said that there is
a revolutionary change as far the technology upgradation in photographic
sector is concerned. Those were the days when there was only black
& white and artificial coloured photography but today the
photographic industry has entered in the spectrum of computerised
and digital photography, she said. The Minister hoped that the
Photofair-2003 which showcases the latest and the best in the
photography scene today will provide a great opportunity both
to professionals and amateurs to see for themselves the ongoing
technical advances in this field.
The four-day
Photofair-2003 is being organised by the All India Photographic,
Trade and Industry Association. The 3rd largest exhibition,
Photofair-2003 is the 10th Premier International photographic
equipment exhibition organised by the Association.
