NATIONAL FOUNDATION TO TAKE UP FARMERS ISSUES PROPOSED BY CHAUDHARY CHARAN SINGH CENTENARY COMMITTEE


The National Committee constituted to draw programmes for celebration of birth centenary of Chaudhary Charan Singh has proposed a national foundation on the lines of industrial associations to take up farmer issues and suggests solution and policy inputs. The committee had its first meeting here today under the chairmanship of Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and decided that 3-sub committee for each of the following will be formed for chalking out the programmes:

  • Establishment of a foundation which would work for the cause of the farmers and as a think tank for the existing as well as future problems relating to the farm sector and provide inputs for policy formulation.
  • For dissemination of the philosophy and message of Chaudhary Charan Singh espoused by him in his life time through Kisan Sammelans, seminars and other appropriate ways.
  • For creation of durable assets and drawing up concrete programmes for implementation in the field to commemorate Chaudhary Charan Singh’s memory.

It was decided to take immediate steps for the creation of foundation and setting up the sub-committees.

The National committee recalled the contribution made by Chaudhary Charan Singh to the cause of farmers. Shri Jagmohan, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Shri Ajit Singh, Minister of Agriculture, Shri Sharad Yadav, Minister of Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution and Shri K.C. Pant, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Shri Harkishan Singh Surjeet, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Shri Rajiv Shukla, Shri Prem Singh Chandu Mazra and Shri Ram Naresh Yadav were among the eminent members who attended the meeting.
