VISUALLY HANDICAPPED STUDENTS OF BHOPAL PRESENT BRAILLE EDITION OF BOOKS TO PRESIDENT


A group of visually handicapped students from Bhopal presented to the President, the braille editions of his books, "Wings of Fire" and "Ignited Minds", at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.

After being presented with the copies of the books, the President told the children that they must over come their disabilities by "defeating the defeatist tendencies". Dr. Kalam answered many questions which these children put to him including questions such as who his inspirations have been in life and what they could do to make India a developed nation. The President also enquired about the status of educational material and facilities available to visually handicapped students. The President said that, "‘we have to provide solutions to their problems with the aid of information technology by developing audio books, talking websites, voice assistive interfaces and other devices".
