Shri Santosh Kumar
Gangwar, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas informed
the Lok Sabha in a written reply today that out of the total
paid-up capital of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)
of Rs. 338.83 crore, the Government of India holds an equity
of Rs. 173.08 crore. Similarly, out of the paid-up capital of
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) of Rs. 300 crore,
the Government holding amounts to Rs. 198.60 crore. The funds
borrowed by HPCL as on 31.12.2002, are Rs. 1778.60 crore and
those borrowed by BPCL are Rs. 2004.62 crore. Shri Gangwar also
informed that HPCL has a total number of 11,263 employees and
BPCL has 12,533 employees as n 31.12.2002.
