National Thermal
Power Corporation (NTPC) have diversified its activities and
entered into hydel power generation with taking up of Koldam
Hydro Electric Project (800 MW) in the State of Himachal Pradesh
for implementation and the construction work of the project
is in progress. In addition, NTPC have recently signed Memoranda
of Understanding with the Government of Uttaranchal for development
of two hydro projects, namely, Lohari-Nagpala (500 MW) and Tapoban-Vishnugad
(360 MW) subject to techno-economic viability being established
and statutory clearance being obtained.
This information
was given by Smt. Jayawanti Mehta, Minister of State for Power,
in a written reply to a question by Shri Ananta Nayak, in the
Lok Sabha today.
