The Meerut-Bijnore-Najibabad-Kotdwar-Pauri
road is a State Highway. Widening and improvement of the section
from Meerut to Najibabad has been undertaken by the State Government
under World Bank loan assistance. Contract for this project
has been awarded in April 2002 and the work is in progress.
Improvement of Najibabad-Kotdwar in Uttar Pradesh and Kotdwar-Pauri
in Uttaranchal has been approved by Central Government under
the Inter-State Connectivity scheme of Central Road Fund in
July 2002 and February 2002 respectively. The work on these
sections is in progress.
This information
was given by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for
Road Transport and Highways, Maj. Gen. (Retd.) B.C. Khanduri
in a written reply to a question of Shri Avtar Singh Bhadana
in Lok Sabha today.
