The Ministry of
Railways has issued orders revising the fares of Indrail Pass
in US Dollar for travelling on Indian Railways. To be effective
from April 1, 2003, the fares for Indrail Pass have been revised
in US Dollars. The revision will cover fares for half a day
to thirty days duration both for adult and child in AC First
Class, AC 2-Tier, AC-3 Tier, AC-Chair Car and Sleeper Class
or Second Class (non AC) for a period ranging from half a day
to 30 days.
Accordingly,
the fare for AC First Class for half a day for adult has been
fixed at US Dollar 48, for one day at US Dollar 53, for two
days at US Dollar 106, for four days at US Dollar 159, for seven
days at US Dollar 212, for 15 days at US Dollar 265, for 21
days At US Dollar 318 and for 30 days at US Dollar 477. For
child for half a day, the fare will be US Dollar 2 in AC First
Class and for 30 days in the same class US Dollar 239.
As for First Class,
AC Two Tier, AC 3 tier and AC Chair Car, the fares will vary
from US Dollar 26 for adult for half a day to US Dollar 254
for 30 days and for child from US Dollar13 for half a day to
US Dollar 127 for 30 days. Similarly, for Sleeper Class and
Second Class (non AC), the fares have been fixed at US Dollar
7 for half a day for adult and US Dollar 63 for 30 days, for
child for half a day it will be US dollar 4 and US dollar 32
for 30 days.
The tariff structure
for 60 days and 90 days slot of Indrail Pass remains unchanged.
The existing stock
of Indrail Pass tickets will be issued to the foreign tourists
with the necessary corrections about the fares till such time
the new stock of Indrail Pass tickets with the revised fares
becomes available.
Necessary instructions
to the concerned staff and travel agents authorized to sell
these tickets have been issued. Besides, General Service Agents
(GSAs) abroad have been informed about the revised tariff.
