The Ministry of
Rural Development has released Rs.190 lakh as advance second
instalment to six districts of Punjab under Sampoorna Grameen
Rozgar Yojana (SGRY – 1st stream) for the year 2002-03.
The second instalment is being released as a special case in
advance due to drought condition of the state.
The Ministry has
also released 1.34 thousand tonnes of wheat to three districts
of Punjab.

The Ministry has
already released first instalment of funds Rs. 188.46 lakh against
allocated Rs.379.11 lakh to the State.
The first stream
of the programme is being implemented at the District and Intermediate
Level Panchayats. Under this stream, funds available are distributed
between the Zila Parishad and Intermediate Level Panchayats
or Panchayat Samiti in the ratio of 40:60. The expenditure and
implementation of the programme with regard to cash component
is to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Centre and the State
Government. The State Govt. should release to the district the
State cash share, within a fortnight of the date of release
of the Central assistance.
