SENIOR LEVEL APPOINTMENTS

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved the following appointments:

1. Shri S.S. Meenakashisundaram (IAS (KN:68) presently Secretary, Department of Drinking Water Supply, as Secretary, Ministry of Disinvestment, vice Shri Pradip Baijal, IAS (MP:66) superannuating on 28.2.2003.
2. Shri D.T. Joseph, IAS (MH:68), presently Director General of Shipping, as Secretary (Coordination and Public Grievances), Cabinet Secretariat, vice Shri Bhure Lal, IAS (UP:66) superannuating on 28.2.2003.
3. Shri A.K. Rastogi, IAS (TN:68), presently Special Secretary and Mission Director, Technology Mission on Oilseeds and Pulses, Ministry of Agriculture, as Secretary, Inter-State Council Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs, vice Shri N.L. Lakhanpal, IAS (MH:67) superannuating on 28.2.2003
4. Shri P. Mohandas, IAS (KL:68), presently in the cadre, as Secretary, Department of Drinking Water Supply, vice Shri S.S. Meenakashisundaram, IAS, (KN:68)
5. Shri A.V.S. Reddy, IAS (AP:68), presently Director General, National Institute of Rural Development, to be re-notified in the rank and pay of Secretary by upgrading the post on a personal basis.
6. Smt. Kasturi G. Menon, IAS (WB:69), presently Director General, Archaeological Survey of India, as Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, vice Shri K.R. Nair, IAS (PB:67) superannuating on 28.2.2003, by reverting the post to the level of Additional Secretary.
7. Shri A.K. Jha, IAS (AP:69), presently Member-Secretary, National Capital Region Planning Board, as Additional Secretary and Mission Director, Technology Mission on Oilseeds and Pulses, Ministry of Agriculture, vice Shri A.K. Rastogi, IAS (TN:68) by reverting the post to the level of Additional Secretary.
8. Smt. Gouri Chatterjee, IAS (WB:71), presently Additional Secretary, Department of Culture, as Director General, Archaeological Survey of India, in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary vice Smt. Kasturi G. Menon, IAS (WB:69). The post of Additional Secretary, Department of Culture, will stand abolished.
9. Shri Shilabhadra Banerjee, IAS (AP:71), presently in the cadre, as Financial Adviser (Acquisition) and Member, Defence Procurement Board, and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, vice Shri R.N. Das, IAS (GJ:71)
10. Shri B.S. Lalli, IAS (UP:71), presently Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence, as Member-Secretary, National Capital Region Planning Board, in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary vice Shri A.K. Jha, IAS (AP:69).
11. Shri Ashok Saikia, IAS (AM:71), Joint Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, to be re-notified as Additional Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, by upgrading the post on a personal basis.
12. Shri G.S. Sahni, IAS (MP:71), presently in the cadre, as Director General of Shipping, in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, vice Shri D.T. Joseph, IAS (MH:68) by reverting the post to the level of Additional Secretary.
