The expenditure on airport security has gone up by 86 percent during the financial year 2001-2002 as compared to the expenditure incurred during 2000-2001.

An amount of Rs.198.86 crore was spent on airport security by Airports Authority of India during the financial year 2001-2002. Expenditure on airport security, including those on deployment of CISF personnel at airports, is borne by the Airports Authority of India.

In view of the hightened threat to the Aviation security in the recent past and the consequent need to deploy specially trained personnel/force as also to install sophisticated security equipments at airports, the expenditure on airport security is not likely to come down.
