Engine, one of the priceless possessions of Indian Railways
maintained at the National Rail Museum, will be taking part
in the 37th Statesman Vintage and Classic Car Rally
to be flagged off from Statesman House to Sohna on Sunday. John
Morris Fire Engine which bagged the Statesman Vintage and Classic
Challenge Trophy last year is the only vehicle of its type left
in the world and enjoys the distinction as the oldest vehicle
to complete the road section of the rally under its own steam.

Ajax Fire Engine on Belsize Chassis of pre –World War I vintage
was acquired by the Nizam of Hyderabad for the Nizam State Railway
for dousing fires. It was maintained in the Loco & Carriage
Workshops at Lallaguda in Hyderabad and retired in 1960. It
is now maintained at the National Rail Museum in good working
condition. All parts remain original. It is creating waves participating
as the leading vehicle of the car rally every year and regularly
bagging the trophy as a star attraction.
