Union Minister
for Parliamentary Affairs and Health & Family Welfare, Smt.
Sushma Swaraj has said that the Government’s endeavour for providing
health for all would have to incorporate the integrated system
of medicine. This system implied a balance between modern system
of medicine i.e. allopathy and the traditional system which
incorporated Ayurveda. Smt. Swaraj stated this while delivering
her address at a function organised by the National Integrated
Medical Association, here today.
Elaborating
further, Smt. Swaraj said that the National Health Care delivery
system acknowledged the vital role played by Ayurveda System
of Medicine in the life of common man. The benefits of Ayurveda
were based on the richness of Indian culture, which had been
time tested over and over again. Ayurveda, Smt. Swaraj said
gave a person relief from deep-rooted ailments by eradicating
the problem from its root. Allopathy helped the person get immediate
relief. It was necessary that for a diverse country like India,
an integrated system of medicine was adopted by practitioners
in taking care of health-related issues in the country.
Speaking on
the occasion, Smt. Swaraj said that the practitioners of Ayurveda
had the right to use tools of modern medicine in treating patients.
However, the Minister remarked that these practitioners would
have to follow the concept and tools of Ayurveda in totality
in treating their patients. All practitioners had to understand
the value and potential that this system of medicine provided
in facilitating health care services in the country.
