CHEMICAL
SECTOR REGISTERS 6.2 PER CENT GROWTH DURING APRIL – NOV.2002
The cumulative growth for the basis
chemicals and chemical products during April – November, 2002
is 6.2 per cent compared to 2.4 per cent registered during April
– November, 2001. During November, 2002, this sector have registered
a growth of 1.5 per cent, compared to 1 per cent growth achieved
in November, 2001.

The overall fall in the rate of growth of industrial production
during November, 2002 is attributed to a lagged effect of monsoon
failure and consequent loss in rural demand.
