EXPORT OF CARS DOUBLED
Indian exports
of cars and two wheelers have doubled in the last two years. According
to the latest available data, India exported cars worth Rs. 897.11
crore in 2002-03 as against exports worth Rs. 418.28 crore during
2001-02, indicating a growth of 114.47%. Similarly, exports of
two wheelers from India have also almost doubled from a level
of Rs. 263.26 crore in 2001-02 to Rs. 513.17 crore in 2002-03,
indicating a rise of 94.93%.
The above data
available from DGCI&S, Kolkata, indicates that India’s exports
of cars and two wheelers are doing well in the overseas market.
India is exporting
cars to about 80 countries out of which our major exports are
to Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Algeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia,
UK, France, Korean RP, Switzerland, Egypt and Greece. Similarly,
two wheelers are exported to about 115 countries out of which
our major exports are to Sri Lanka, Philippines, Bangladesh, Nepal,
Mexico, Columbia, UAE, Dominic Republic, Peru and USA.
