EXPERT COMMITTEE TO EVALUATE FEASIBILITY OF SKY BUS METRO CONSTITUTED


A 10-member committee of experts has been setup by the government to evaluate the feasibility of establishing and operating sky bus metro service in Indian cities. Shri P.V.Indiresan will be the Chairman of the Committee which has Shri K.K. Gupta, Executive Director of Railway Board, Shri A.K. Mittal, Chief Engineer of CPWD, Shri G.K. Wadhwa, Director General, Research, Design, and Standardisation Organisation, Lucknow, Shri Satish Kumar, Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Shri Chandrika Prasad, Retired Adviser (Signals) Railway Board, Chief Commissioner, Railway Safety, Managing Director, RITES, a representative each from CSIR and Ministry of Urban Development as members.

The terms of reference of the Committee would include; examining the techno-economic and financial feasibility of the Sky Bus Metro System as proposed by the Konkan Rail Corporation Ltd; ascertaining the safety of the system; evaluating novel system components, such as suspended rail technology, traversing systems, etc and evaluating integration of different technologies.

The committee would submit its report in two months.
