LOCUST SITUATION BULLETIN

The country remained free from gregarious locust activity during the second fortnight of last month. However, low numbers of immigrant and infiltrated adults of desert locust along the Indo-Pak border areas were reported from 5 localities of the Barmer district of Rajasthan ranging from 1 to 35 adults per hectare. Maximum density was recorded at Nure Ka Par on the 21st of last month. Ecological conditions are not conducive for locust breeding in the Scheduled Desert Area of the country.

According to the Locust Situation Bulletin of the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine & Storage of the Agriculture Ministry, the locust situation is likely to remain calm. However, continuous vigilance is being maintained to detect any locust build up.
