ASSISTANCE TO FPIs IN SOUTHERN STATES
RAJYA SABHA
Ministry of Food Processing Industries extended financial assistance
of Rs. 155.04 lakh to Andhra Pradesh and Rs. 47.95 lakh to Karnataka
during 2002-03 for implementation of major schemes in these States.
The financial assistance given to Kerala and Tamil Nadu during
the same period amounted to Rs. 389.9 lakh and 365.79 lakh respectively.
This information was given in Rajya Sabha today by Shri N.T. Shanmugam,
Minister of State for Food Processing Industries in a written
reply.
The Ministry extends financial assistance in
the form of grant-in-aid under its Plan Schemes to Private Sector/Non-Government
Organisation/Public Sector Undertakings/Human Resource Development
Organisations/Research & Development Institutions for the
development of the processed food sector. The quantum of assistance
varies from activity to activity.
The financial assistance provided by the Ministry
is expected to result in development of the sector; the minister
added.
