URANIUM MINING IN ANDHRA PRADESH

The
Minister of Mines, Shri Ramesh Bais has assured that all requisite
statutory clearances including environmental clearance will be
obtained before commencement of the Uranium mining project in
Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh. The Minister gave this assurance in
a written reply to the question of Shri R. Raamachandrayya in
Rajya Sabha today. Shri Bais stated that as part of the process
of obtaining environmental clearance, Environmental Impact Assessment
(EIA) and Environment Management Plan (EMP) have been prepared
for this Uranium Mining Project. These also include measures to
ensure safety of the people residing around the area.
