EMPLOYEES PROVIDENT FUND ORGANISATION HONOURS TODAY THE BEST EMPLOYERS UNDER THE "EMPLOYERS WHO CARE’ PROGRAMME


Employees Provident Fund Organisation is honouring the best employers under the "Employers Who Care’ programme today. This is a part of Labour Ministry’s on-going efforts to ensure voluntary compliance and make the employers more sensitive and responsive to the security security needs of the employees. Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Union Minister for Human Resource Development will be the Chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Sahib Singh, Chairman, Central Board of Trustees, EPF and Union Labour Minister will preside over the function being held today at PHD House, Siri Fort Institutional Area, New Delhi.

The improved working standards of the EPF organization was possible only through mutual cooperation and trust by the stake holders like the employers, the employees’ union and the Government involved in the transactions. The Chairman, Central Board of Trustees after taking stock of the situation expressed the need for honouring the best employers complying under EPF & MP Act, 1952 in view of their major stake holding in improving the standards. Hence, a programme under the title "Employers Who Care" was conceived to identify and honour the best complying establishment on a national scale.

A sub-committee under the Central Board of Trustees with one member each from the employers’ and employees’ side was constituted to go into the selection procedure for identifying the best employers. The committee after going through the merit of each case selected the following establishments for receiving the awards:-

1.

Establishments employing less than 100 workers

Assam Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

2.

Establishments employing 101 to 1000 workers

TEXMO Industries, Coimbatore

3.

Establishments employing more than 1000 members

Desai Brothers, Kamareddi, Andhra Pradesh

4.

Best complying exempted establishment

Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation, Hyderabad

5.

Oldest best complying establishment

Tata Motors Ltd., Jamshedpur

6.

Best progressive employer

Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu
