ALUMINIUM PRODUCTION IN APRIL-JULY

The production of aluminium metal in the country during April-July, 2003 has been 2.67 lakh tonnes against 2.19 lakh tonnes during the same period last year. The target was to produce 2.70 lakh tonnes during the period.

During the period public sector National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) has produced 97,701 tonnes against a target of 94,050 tonnes and Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd. (BALCO) with 49 per cent Central Government equity produced 32,859 tonnes against the target of 33,000 tonnes. The private sector Hindustan Aluminium Company Ltd. (Hindalco) contributed 1,02,720 tonnes, Indian Aluminium Company (INDAL) 23,329 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Ltd. (MALCO) 10,530 tonnes.

During the month of July the total production was 64,149 tonnes against a target of 68,600 tonnes. NALCO exported 74,144 tonnes of aluminium and 17,782 tonnes of aluminium during the month. The installed capacity of annual aluminium production in the country is 8,39,520 tonnes.
