FOURTH EDITORS’ CONFERENCE
ON SOCIAL SECTOR ISSUES BEGINS ON 27TH AUGUST, 2003
The
Fourth Editors’ Conference on Social Sector Issues begins here
from Wednesday, the 27-29 August, 2003 at the National Press Centre,
Press Information Bureau, Shastri Bhavan. Editors/writers/correspondents
and columnists from all part of the country will participate in
the Conference sponsored by the Ministry of Rural Development.
11 Ministries/Departments of the Government of India will participate
in this Conference. These include Ministries of Rural Development,
Human Resource Development, Health and Family Welfare, Consumer
Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Social Justice and Empowerment,
Labour, Water Resources, Tourism & Culture, Tribal Affairs,
Agriculture and Information & Broadcasting.
The three-day Conference
will be inaugurated by the Union Minister for Rural Development,
Shri Kashiram Rana on the August 27, 2003 at 11.00 AM. After the
inaugural session, there will be separate sessions with Ministers
and senior officials of the key ministries in the social sector
to enable Editors, columnists and senior correspondents to interact
with them and get a detailed background of government policies
and programme. The Conference will provide a platform to discuss
issues of human development in social sectors with editors representing
national and regional newspapers. The Conference will also provide
an opportunity to the government to get feed back from the editors.
The Editors participating
in the Conference will be provided with the background material
on policy initiatives and achievements of the participating Ministries.
The inputs received by the Editors are used by them for future
news reports/articles/editorials etc.
