The Ministry of Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation has been implementing this centrally sponsored Urban Poverty Alleviation Programme through the State Governments/Union Territories, with effect from December, 1997. The scheme is funded in the ratio of 75:25 between the Centre and the States and is being implemented to benefit the urban population living below poverty line all over the country.
