DR. JOSHI GIVES AWAY "SANSKRIT MITRA" AWARDS
The `Sanskrit Mitra’
Awards were given away here today, by the Minister of Human Resource
Development Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, at a function organised by
the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan to observe the Sanskrit Week.
In all, forty three scholars, writers, teachers and others received
the awards for their contribution in the enrichment of the language.
Dr. Joshi also released a number of sanskrit books to mark the
occasion.
Winding up the
week long celebrations, Dr. Joshi said Sanskrit is becoming popular
day by day. Still much more needs to be done to bring back its
old glory. He said the Government has taken a number of steps
to make it the people’s language and see that it does not fade
away, in the onslaught of English and other languages. Language
is a treasure trough of rich knowledge, culture and traditions,
it must be nourished at all levels, Dr. Josh said.
