TASK FORCE ON ACCIDENT RELIEF

A five member high-level Committee was constituted recently to review the Disaster Management system over Indian Railways. The Committee submitted its report containing 111 recommendations, which have since been accepted. Some of the recommendations have been made to speed up the pace of relief and rescue arrangements.

Every effort is made to send medical relief at the site of accident within least possible time. To strengthen the system further, self-propelled Medical Vans have been introduced. Assistance from armed forces and para military forces is also obtained whenever require. More emphasis is being laid on the training of staff in relief and rescue operations. Sophisticated and latest technology for medical relief and rescue equipment is also being inducted.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Bandaru Dattatraya in a written reply to a question from Shri Naresh Puglia and three other Members in the Lok Sabha today.
