PROVISION OF LADIES COMPARTMENT
IN TRAINS
LOK SABHA
In the passenger
carrying trains, one compartment or such number of berths/seats,
as required, are mostly earmarked for exclusive use of ladies.
In order to prevent harassment to the lady passengers, checks
are conducted with the help of RPF/GRP and the culprits apprehended
are dealt with as per the Law. Moreover, special squads consisting
of ladies ticket checking staff and lady RPF personnel have been
formed at some locations to assist the women passengers. Ladies
Compartments are escorted in some suburban areas by women GRP
and women RPF staff.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Bandaru Dattatraya
in a written reply to a question from Shri G. Putta Swamy Gowda
in the Lok Sabha today.
