FUNDS AND FOODGRAINS RELEASED TO BIHAR & JHARKHAND UNDER SGRY


Ministry of Rural Development has released an amount of Rs. 18.85 crore as first installment of funds under Sampoorna Grameen Rojgar Yojana (SGRY-I Stream) to the 5 districts of Bihar during 2003-2004. These districts are : Banka, Patna, Sheikpura, West Champaran, Samastipur. Ministry has released 9330 metric tonnes of Rice to two districts of Bihar. These districts are : Banka & West Champaran.

Ministry has released Rs.7.10 crore as first installment of funds and 2397 Metric Tonnes of wheat and 7190 Metric tonnes of rice to Palamu and Latehar districts of Jharkhand. The cash expenditure on the implementation of the programme is to be shared 75.25 basis between the Centre and the State respectively. The State Government should release to the district the State cash share within a fortnight of the date of release of the Central assistance.

The First Stream of the Programme is being implemented at the District and Intermediate level Panchayats. 50% of the funds are earmarked out of the total funds available under the SGRY and distributed between the Zilla Parishad and the Intermediate level Panchayats or Panchayat Samitis in the ratio of 40:60.
