MUSHROOM PRODUCTION INCLUDED IN FPI
Processing of mushroom
is included in the Food Processing Industries. As per information
furnished by Department of Agriculture & Cooperation, mainly
two types of mushrooms viz. white button mushroom and oyster mushroom
are produced with an overall production of 40,000 metric tones
per year.
Under its plan scheme,
Ministry of Food Processing Industries provides financial assistance
for setting up/expansion/modernization of food processing industries
including mushroom to the extent of 25 per cent of capital cost
subject to a maximum of Rs. 50 lakhs in general areas and 33.33
per cent of capital cost subject to a maximum of 75 lakhs in difficult
areas.
This information
was given in Lok Sabha today by Shri N.T. Shanmugam, Minister
of State for Food Processing Industries in a written reply.
