INDIGENOUS CRYO-ENGINE UNDERGOES ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL TEST

The third indigenous cryo-engine underwent recently another successful ground test. This time it was for a full flight duration of 760 seconds in closed loop, simulating GSLV flight conditions. The steering engine for the indigenous cryogenic stage, used for launch vehicle control purposes, was also successfully tested for the 6th time, in simulating flight conditions.

Meanwhile, the GSLV-D2 is all set for its second developmental flight later this month. Preparations for the final cryo stage has also been completed. The GSLV-D2, will put into Orbit GSAT-2, which has already been moved to the launch site.

Also as the INSAT-2DT is nearing its end of life, its place will be taken up by INSAT-3E scheduled for launch during 2003-04. The INSAT-3A launched early this month from kourou in French Guyana has now been successfully placed in its final geo-sationary orbital slot. In the coming days, the payloads on board the satellite will be tested, before it is commissioned into service.
