SCHOLARSHIPS FOR STUDENTS GOING ABROAD
The Government of
India provides scholarships to Indian scholars for Post Graduate/Research/Post
Doctoral studies abroad on the basis of offers received from foreign
Governments under the various Cultural/Educational Exchange Programmes.
The details of offers and other conditions are given wide publicity
in the leading newspapers while inviting applications for scholarships.
The amount and other
facilities provided by foreign governments varies from country
to country and time to time. During 1999, 73 scholarships were
awarded; during 2000-01, 86; during 2001-02, 117; during 2002-03,
105 and for 2003-04, approximately 110 scholarships have been
proposed.
This information
was given by the Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development,
Dr. Vallabhbhai Kathiria in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha
today.
