FRENCH ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL INAUGURATED
The
Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ravi Shankar
Prasad inaugurated the French Animation Film Festival at Siri
Fort today. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the
animation film is a fast growing sector and India has a great
potential to further promote this high-tech film industry. He
said that there is a great scope for India and France to come
together and give a big push to the creative animation film sector.
H. E. Dominique Girard, Ambassador
of France in India was also present on the occasion. He said that
Indian films are becoming popular in France and more Indian films
will be screened in France in the near future. This animation
film festival is a showcase of strong ties between the two countries
especially in the field of bilateral interests and cultural exchange.
It is a special package of
40 animation films divided into five programmes and one feature
film. Each day between April 25-29, the Directorate of Film Festivals
of India will screen one programme between 6.30 p.m. and 8.00
p.m. in Siri Fort Auditorium-II.
As part of this initiative
a ‘Workshop on Animation’ will be conducted by the invited French
Animators Mr. Michel Ocelot and Mr. Cotte on April 25, 2003 between
11.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. in Siri Fort Auditorium-II.
