TO RE-INTRODUCE ACTING COURSE AT PUNE FILM INSTITUTE
The Government has
decided to re-introduce the Acting Course at the Film & Television
Institute of India, Pune, in addition to the existing courses
in Direction, Cinematography, Editing and Audiography besides
running short-term courses and providing in-service training for
Doordarshan personnel.
Replying to a
question by Dr. Prabha Thakur in Rajya Sabha today, the Minister
of Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad said
that the Governing Council of the Institute in its 99th
meeting has decided in principle to re-introduce the acting course.
The course is expected to be of two years’ duration with a annual
in-take of 20 students.
The Minister said
that the annual expenditure incurred by the Government on the
Institute as grants-in-aid under Plan and Non-Plan stood at Rs.
481.67 lakhs during the year 2002-2003, Rs. 644.13 lakhs during
2001-2002 and Rs. 729.52 lakhs during 2000-2001.
