45 AGRICULTURAL EXPORT ZONES BEING
SET UP
45 Agri Export Zones
(AEZs) for different products are being set up in 19 different
states. Total investment of approximately Rs. 1256 crore is envisaged,
comprising around Rs. 364 crore from central government agencies,
Rs. 197 crore from state government agencies and Rs. 694 crore
from the private sector. Based on five years projection for each
sanctioned AEZ, the total anticipated value of exports is estimated
at around Rs. 9700 crore. State governments proposals for setting
up Agri Export Zones for a product (s) grown in a contiguous area
and having export potential, would be considered on merits. This
was stated by Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State for Commerce
& Industry, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
