CEA CLEARS 11566 MW GENERATION SCHEMES
Central Electricity
Authority has apprised and cleared a record generating capacity
of 11,566 MW with a financial investment of more than Rs.47,700
crore during the financial year 2002-03. This is the highest generating
capacity appraised by CEA in any single year so far. Capacity
aggregating to 4,956 MW is likely to be commissioned during Tenth
Plan with balance capacity of 6,610 MW programmed for commissioning
in the early part of the Eleventh Plan. The capacity cleared in
the Central Sector is 6,712 MW from 8 Schemes comprising 5 Hydro
Schemes with a capacity of 4,552 MW and 3. Thermal Schemes with
a capacity of 2,160 MW involving total investment of about Rs.27,450
crore. Out of this capacity of 6,712 MW, a capacity of 1,912 MW
is likely to be commissioned during Tenth Plan and balance 4,800
MW in the Eleventh Plan. Capacity cleared in the State Sector
is 3,644 MW from 10. Schemes comprising one Hydro with a capacity
of 100 MW and nine with a Capacity of 3,044 MW from Thermal Schemes
is likely to be commissioned during the Tenth Plan period itself.
The capacity cleared in the Private Sector is 1,210 MW from 3.
Hydro Schemes with an investment of about Rs.6,900 crore and all
the Hydro Schemes are likely to give benefits during Eleventh
Plan Period.
