MoU SIGNED FOR INDO-FRENCH CYBER
UNIVERSITY
A Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU), for establishing an "Indo-French Cyber University", was
signed between the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD),
Government of India and the French Ministry for Youth, National
Education and for Research, here, last evening. The MoU on behalf
of Government of India was signed by Shri Ravi Mathur, Joint Secretary
in the Ministry of HRD and by Mr. M. Daniel VITRY, Director of
International Relations, Ministry for Youth, National Education
and for Research, Paris.
The Cyber University
will be devoted to information exchanges between India and France
in the fields of education, training, transfer of technology and
research. The idea of establishing this University was first mooted
by the French Ministry of Education during the visit of French
delegation to India in November, 1999.
For the first phase,
some disciplines have been identified for development of content
and delivery of instruction to students through Cyber mode. These
are Applied Mathematics, Information Technology, Computer Engineering,
Design Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Control Engineering,
Management, Environment, Teaching of French language and Teaching
of Hindi language. The learning resource material will be developed
jointly by Indian and French Institutions.
English, Hindi and
French will be the main languages used in Indo-French Cyber University.
The content of the curriculum of these disciplines/courses will
be at the level of postgraduate and research. Courses of Hindi
and French languages will be offered through distance mode at
appropriate level.
