POWER PRODUCTION IN UTTARANCHAL
The electricity generation
in Uttaranchal during the month of March, 2003 and in the year
2002-03 was 239 MUs and 3758 MUs respectively (including generation
in Central Sector).
During the year 2002-03,
the energy requirement and the peak demand in Uttaranchal were
3774 MUs and 771 MW respectively. District-wise power supply position
is under the purview of concerned State/State power Utility.
- Capacity addition of 704 MW
is planned in the State/Private Sector in Uttaranchal during
10th Plan. In addition, generation capacity of
7090 MW is proposed to be implemented in the Central Sector
during 10th Plan period in the Northern Region
in which the State will also have its entitlements.
- Seven hydro projects aggregating
to 3134 MW have already been sanctioned which are in the various
stages of implementation in the State. These projects are
expected to yield benefits during 10th Plan period
and beyond.
- Strengthening/Augmentation of
Transmission system and formation of national Grid by the
end of 11th Plan which will facilitate smooth flow
of power from surplus States/Region to deficit States/Region.
