INCREASE IN LPG DEMAND

There has been a continuous increase in the demand for LPG during the last few years in the country. The estimated demand of LPG during 2002-03 is 8192 thousand metric tonnes (TMT) as compared to 6029 TMT, during 1999-2000. The LPG imports made by Public Sector Oil Companies during 1999-2000 were 1390 TMT while the estimated imports during 2202-03 were 960 TMT.

The above information was given by the Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Santosh Gangwar, today in the Rajya Sabha in a written reply.
