CULTURAL AND NATIONAL REGENERATION
PROJECTS TO BE TAKEN UP TO CREATE AWARENESS ABOUT CIVILISATIONAL
VALUES - JAGMOHAN
The Ministry of Tourism
and Culture is making a determined bid to create awareness about
great Indian civilisational values. Cultural and national regeneration
prjects are being taken up with this purpose. These include creation
of hubs of culture, tourism and clean civic governance all over
the country, exploring the lost civilizations and cities – from
Adi Badri to Dholavira, yatras on the life and work Shankracharya,
Vivekanand and Mahatma Gandhi. This was stated by the Minister
of Tourism and Culture, Shri Jagmohan during valedictory session
of International Conference on Indian Philosophy, Science and
Culture here yesterday evening. Regretting lack of awareness about
of our great heritage and values Shri Jagmohan said, "the
failure of the post independence India has been two-fold. One,
it has failed to acquire an inspired vision and rebuild India
in the mould of that vision. Second, it has failed to make a solid
contribution to the emergence of a new world-wide civilisation
the norms of which could have brought about a truly fair, just,
equitable, humane and enlightened international order-an order
which would have been conducive to the growth of happy and harmonious
communities everywhere". Shri Jagmohan added that now efforts
should be made to recapture the power of the Indian mind and use
this power as a base for building a new edifice.
On the occasion,
Shri Jagmohan also made a power point presentation on the cultural
and heritage projects being taken up by his Ministry and released
a book on ‘Science & Philosophy’ written by Dr. D.P.Chattopadhyaya.
The 4-days’ conference organised by Indian Council of Philosophical
Research was attended by experts from the field of Indian Philosophy,
Science and Culture from the country and abroad. After the valedictory
session Sangeet Natak Academy presented Sitar by Gaurav Majumdar,
Disciple of Ravi Shankar and Odissi dance by Ranjana Gauhar.
