CHAIRMAN OF LALIT KALA AKADEMY
The President of
India has appointed Shri R.B. Bhaskaran, eminent artist and former
Principal, College of Art, Chennai as Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi.
Born in 1942, Shri Bhaskaran studied PrintMaking, Lithography
and Ceramics at Ein Hod Israel with a scholarship from IAPA (UNESCO).
As a scholar of the British Council Shri Bhaskaran completed postgraduate
studies in Printmaking in England. Shri Bhaskaran had held many
important offices like honorary Secretary of the Regional Centre
of Lalit Kala Akademi at Chennai, and Commissioner for 6th
Triennale India. He has won many awards including the National
Award for graphics in 1982.
The appointment of
Shri Bhaskaran is for a period of 5 years with immediate effect.
