OFFICIALS RECEIVE PRIZES FOR EFFICIENCY
IN HINDI
During the Hindi Fortnight
being observed all over the Government from September 13 to 27,
2002, 41 officials of the Union Law Ministry were awarded prizes
for their efficiency in Hindi, the Official Language of the Union,
at a function here today.
The prizes are
in four categories of first, second, third and consolation containing
a sum of Rs. 1000, Rs. 800, Rs. 500 and Rs. 250 respectively.
Besides, for initiating basic work in Hindi two prizes were awarded
in the category of first with a sum of Rs. 1000 to two personnel
and Rs. 600 in second prize for three personnel. The prizes comprise
essay competition, translation, noting and drafting, typing speed
and original work in Hindi both for Hindi and Non-Hindi speaking
officials.
Speaking
on the occasion, the Addl. Secretary, Legislative Department,
Dr. K.N. Chaturvedi, who gave away prizes to the recipients, congratulated
them for the excellence of their performance in the Official Language
of the Union ((OLU) and hoped that this would inspire others to
work hard and attain desired efficiency in Hindi for similar prizes
next year. The Joint Secretary and Legislative Counsel, Shri N.L.
Meena, who also spoke on the occasion, appreciated the initiatives
taken by the Non-Hindi officials in improving their skills in
Hindi and hoped that in the days to come they would make a mark
of efficiency in Hindi.
The Hindi Fortnight is
observed in Government offices all over the country in the second
half of September every year to mark the adoption of Hindi as
the OLU in the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly
in September 1947.
