JAYAWANTI MEHTA STRESSES ENERGY CONSERVATION
Smt. Jayawanti Mehta, Minister of
State for Power has stressed the importance of Energy Conservation.
She said that Energy Conservation would go a long way in meeting
the ever-growing demand for energy. Smt. Mehta was speaking at
the 55th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Electrical
and Electronics Manufacturer’s Association. Smt. Mehta said implementation
of an Energy Efficiency labelling programme is also being considered
by the Government. Labelling programme is one of the activities
which will oblige the producers to manufacture energy efficient
products only without enforcement of any law as the market will
push the producers to compete with each other on the strength
of their Energy Efficiency.
Earlier, Shri R. V. Shahi, Secretary
said that initiatives have been taken to increase energy conservation
industry was being urged to produce energy efficiency products.
Lighting industry has a vast potential in this regard, he added.
