NTPC PAYS A DIVIDEND OF Rs.707 CRORE

The National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) has paid a Dividend of Rs.707.93 crore to the Government of India for the financial year 2001-02. A cheque of this amount was presented to Shri Anant G. Geete, Minister of Power by Shri C.P.Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC here last evening. Smt. Jayawanti Mehta, Minister of State for Power, Shri R.V.Shahi, Secretary, Power and other senior officials from Ministry of Power and NTPC were also present on the occasion.

This is the ninth consecutive year that NTPC has paid dividend to Government of India, starting from Rs.65 crore in the year 1993-94. NTPC has a total capacity of 20,749 MW.
