PM TO GRACE THE PREMIERE OF ABUA BIRSA FEATURE FILM TOMORROW

The Prime Minister, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee will grace the premiere of the feature film "Abua Birsa" here tomorrow. The film is on the life and struggle of the great tribal leader, Birsa Munda who laid his life fighting for the independence of the country.

Birsa Munda, a resident of Chaibasa, now in Jharkhand state fought against the British and died. He was a very popular leader and remembered in the country for his valour, courage and straight-forwardness. He fought relentlessly for the self-determination of the tribals at a large.

The film has been co-produced by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and its Director, Shri Amitava Dasgupta. The script has been written by Noor Zaheer. ‘Abua Birsa’ is a film on the tribal struggle for self-determination and a homage to Birsa Munda, the torch bearer of this historical conflict.
